Curling 2010
February 16th, 2010 by Sonja

Four years ago I re-discovered an old acquaintance.  I’m having fun now watching again.

Four years ago I was in the middle of the darkest caves and curling was the only time of day I could breath freely.  Something about the commentary, the rhythm, the pace all combined to give me peace and comfort.

It’s been a long and winding road.  But I can finally say that the fall is over.  I might even be out of the caves and in the sunshine on most days.

Life is good.

I’ve not spent a lot of time watching it (you have a curling channel?), but I am mesmerized when I do. It’s entrancing indeed. I go back and forth trying to figure out how this came to be and what exactly the goal is. It takes me a little while before I settle down and get lost in the aesthetics of it.

I feel like there’s a richness of analogies that could be found that no one else would quite understand.

    It is relaxing.

I suspect this post might not get 25 comments, though. Relaxing never is quite as inciting as controversy. 😀

That’s classic. And I should know, I’m in Winnipeg.
