Amazing Grace
May 26th, 2007 by Sonja

Here is a video from the Estes Park Highland Festival in Estes Park, Colorado.

LightHusband and I have both performed at this in the past with our respective fife & drum corps. I just want you to know that there is nothing in this world quite like hearing massed pipes playing “Amazing Grace” 15 feet behind you. I used to sob out loud during the whole thing. To this day I can barely sing the song because of this experience … it was just that amazing.

Wow … well, I don’t know what the price of admission is. But if you can afford it, this fall go down for the day and see the parade and watch the shows. There are also all kinds of fun stuff for the girls to see … there are dog/sheep trials and caber tossing (guys throwing telephone poles) and step dancing (Shayel will LOVE that). And … their bangers & mash are for real … and … really good British beer on the premises (if I remember correctly). It’s a good day … I think it’s usually held the weekend after Labor Day weekend or so …

Many years from now hopefully, at my funeral, my one desire is to have Amazing Grace played on the bagpipe.

I have been to a good number of Scottish games that featured mass bands and I absolutely love it! I keep intending to take Ryan and the kiddos to one – they really need to learn about caber tossing and sword dancing.
