The results of a discussion over lunch about the relative values of cats versus dogs as household pets:
Dogs reflect humans back to themselves as they wish to be.
Cats reflect humans back to themselves as they really are.
A “Pastor’s Blooper” from my “Church Bulletin Bloopers” page-a-day calendar for 2004:
Lord, please make me the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
Here’s another one you’ve probably heard before: A dog thinks, “This person gives me food, shelter, love, rawhide, everything I could possibly want. She must be God!” A cat thinks, “This person gives me food, shelter, love, catnip, everything I could possibly want. *I* must be God!”
I love it, Mike! And then there’s the whole, “Cats are like women, dogs are like men,” perspective. Which I also totally love.
